A.D.D. V.S. I.N.C.

As they have said, if you want to put fire on a room, talk about their religion.

This topic has become what appears to be an unending battle between the two most active religions in the Philippines, the Church on God popularly known as Ang Dating Daan (The Old Path) and the Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ).

Eliseo Soriano, the Church of God's presiding minister is more popular from directly attacking other religion’s teaching, without hesitation. This makes his congregation very noticeable with his hot and brave verbal attacks on other religious teaching. He is also known to have memorized the bible, sitting verses unprepared.

His detractors accused him from cursing on his television and radio programs. He then claimed that those words are not curses, but a fact. Arguing that he’s not saying stupid to those who are not, but only to those who are, because they are.

On the other hand, Erano Manalo, the leader of Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ), Eliseo’s number one detractors was accused of financing the persons who filed cases against the Church of God’s minister.

Erano Manalo had become popular especially to the politicians with the church’s rule of unity-voting system. The church’s leaders will select the candidates then all his followers will vote according to the list created. This makes their religion very fragile on the eyes of the politicians.

Erano Manalo was condemned from not showing on public gatherings and refrain himself from having his own television and radio programs, not like Eliseo who is known from talking up to five hours while teaching on the live audience.

One of the most controversial issue is the continuous invitation of Eliseo to Erano on a televise debate since 2002, in which Erano’s spokes persons directly disagree. Eliseo offered that he will pay every expense for the air time, but the Church of Christ’s leader never responded.

The two religions were considered from the eyes of the Filipinos as the black and white of the color wheel, directly contrasting each other on every teachings they prophesize.
